EFIC is therefore joining the call, shared by other stakeolders including ZeroWasteEurope, for a) the introduction of a new sustainability criteria for energy from waste to ensure all energy from waste is done in line with the cascading use principle, the EU waste hierarchy and the circular economy; b) the removal of subsidies for “waste to energy” from mixed municipal and industrial waste to support separate collection and recycling targets.
